By Andrew Collins. Although one of the largest cities in the country, and one with a huge population of gay men, Houston only has one gay bathhouse: Club Houston. Located close to downtown hotels and restaurants, and about a minute drive east of the city's Montrose gay nightlife district, this Houston staple has been serving the gay community of southern Texas for over 10 years. Whether you're just looking to spend a day at the spa or want to find a male companion while on your vacation to Houston, a trip to Club Houston is the only destination in the city offering a safe space for gay men to gather, soak in the sauna, and enjoy one another's company in private. Although Houston was once home to two gay bathhouses, Midtowne Spa—which also has branches in Denver, Los Angeles , Dallas , and Milwaukee —closed in due to financial troubles, leaving Club Houston as the only gay bathhouse in the city. Club Houston is an impressive space whose amenities include a state-of-the-art gym, steam room, dry sauna, outdoor heated pool, and sundeck—all in a clean, modern facility.
